M. Servilius C.f, 100 BC. Denarius (Subaeratus, 20 mm, 3.04 g, 5 h), a contemporary plated imitation, irregular mint. Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet and pendant earring; behind, o. Rev. M•SERVEILI•C•F / L Roman and a Barbarian warrior fighting on foot, each armed with sword and shield, horse prancing behind each. Cf. Babelon (Servilia) 13, Crawford 327/1, RBW 1183 var. (differing control letter) and Sydenham 602 (for prototype). Nicely toned. Some scratches, otherwise, very fine.
